Social Impacts
With a total of more than 3,500 buildings being destroyed by the Black Saturday Bushfires (2,500+ being homes to many people), the home owners or the people who lost someone in the fires would have been devastated. The community of Victoria and those in the area where the fires occurred had lost their belongings and memories and even loved ones. The most damaged area was the Kinglake Area with more than 180,000 hectares burnt and the most deaths being 120 people. Around 1250 out of the 3,500 total buildings were destroyed in this area. Overall, the people and the community who experienced this tragic event had something lost by the Black Saturday Bushfires. |
